LANCASTER, NH: Weeks Medical Center physicians, leaders, and clinicians gathered recently to celebrate the Center of Distinction Award, which was given to the Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center by Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The Wound Healing Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal. There were 512 Centers eligible for the Center of Distinction Award, but only 221 achieved the honor.
“We are honored to receive the Center of Distinction Award from Healogics in recognition of our outstanding clinical performance,” said Scott Howe, CEO of Weeks Medical Center. “We are committed to bringing the highest quality healthcare, including specialty wound care, to residents of the North Country. I thank our dedicated staff for their hard work in bringing greater healing to our patients and for expanding our range of services so successfully.”

The Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center at Weeks Medical is a member of the Healogics network of nearly 800 Centers, and provides access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating approximately 2.5 million chronic wounds. The Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds that have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Advanced treatments include negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.

“We have a fantastic team approach and concept which results in consistently high healing rates for our patients,” said Dr. W. Kemp Schanlaber, DPM, one of the co-medical directors of the Wound Healing Center. “We use state-of-the-art technology with evidence-based protocol for our wound healing. It has also been tremendously enjoyable working with such a great group of people and our patient satisfaction level is very high. Our patients are treated like family.”

Dr. Hal Goolman, DPM, co-medical director added, “We are very thankful for the great team effort. Our staff works well together to promote healing of our patients’ wounds. Our wound care providers are very dedicated and we appreciate being honored with the Healogics Center of Distinction Award.
