Helping Us Serve the Community during a Pandemic
A Letter to the Community from Weeks President Mike Lee
This year, I am grateful for the amazing Weeks Medical Center staff who faced unprecedented constant change and challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic put all of us on high alert. Our goal as your community hospital is to help you and your family be as healthy as possible. That means providing a wide variety of care services, both physical and emotional, to our regional community from North Stratford to Whitefield and Dalton to Jefferson. The incredible Weeks team has met the challenges of providing quality medical care you and your family deserve — but not without a serious cost.
We, and all rural hospitals across the US, are running a significant deficit for the first time in many years. Your continued financial support is critically important to us right now to keep this vital community support alive. Please consider a year-end gift today, of any size, to help us keep our community healthy and safe.
With our new Lancaster Clinic open, our commitment to high-quality healthcare is stronger than ever. The pandemic forced us to assess how we deliver all medical services safely and review our procedures to meet your needs when in-person care was unavailable. As a result, telehealth for primary care and specialty care was up and running within one week.
This year, as part of our commitment to local care, we enhanced our mammography and radiology services and team, opened a new site for the North Country Recovery Center for addiction care, expanded our behavioral health and orthopedic teams and services, grew primary care services, and partnered with the New England Heart & Vascular Institute to bring the highest-quality cardiology and vascular care to our region. We also expanded our laboratory testing. Even with the uncertainties of the pandemic, we continue to plan ahead and grow to serve you and your families medical needs.
Our commitment to care, combined with the strain of the pandemic, put a financial strain on the hospital and rural health clinics. Every day we are investing the time, effort, and resources needed to support the health needs of everyone in our region. We are truly here for you, your family, and neighbors.
Best wishes for a healthy holiday season. Thank you for your consideration and be well. To donate online, please click the link below.
