Construction on New Lancaster Patient Care Center to Begin September 4
Weeks Medical Center announced that preliminary construction on its new Lancaster Patient Care Center will begin on Tuesday, September 4 earlier than expected. The new $13 million three-floor center will be built adjacent to the current hospital. The new center will house primary care, outpatient speciality services, and provide more accessible and private consultation space for patients and staff alike. A capital campaign to raise $4 million from the community will be announced at public events on Wednesday, September 19.
Construction of the new center is not anticipated to impact patients, according to Mike Lee, president of Weeks Medical Center. “Parking in the upper parking lot (closest to the hospital) will remain the same and be reserved for patients,” Lee said. “Patients will still be entering the hospital from our main entrance on Middle Street and using the same parking lot and entrance to the hospital. Our goal is to minimize any inconvenience to our patients during construction.”
As part of the project, the hospital’s lower parking lot will be closed temporarily during construction. All employees at the hospital have been directed to park in an adjacent staff parking lot located off Hospital Road. Employees have also been asked to drive to the hospital via Brickyard Road to during construction.
“The construction of the new Lancaster Patient Care Center is a community project and will take approximately one year,” Lee said. “All parking changes are temporary. We will keep patients and staff notified with regular updates about parking and construction. We appreciate your support, cooperation, and understanding as we begin this exciting new project, which will provide much needed space and quality healthcare for our region.”
